Chang Hon

Karate boy in white kimono fightingChang Hon Taekwondo uses the Chang Hon 창헌 forms (also called Chang Hun, Chang ‘On or Chon-Ji, after the name of the first form). These forms were developed in a military style, and it is this style of taekwondo we teach. Though students are certified and ranked through the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) at the Kukkiwon headquarters in Seoul, South Korea, these forms are usually associated with the International Taekwondo Federation (ITF).

The roots of our school go far back, when the WTF and ITF didn’t exist, but only one form of taekwondo forms was taught. When they split, eventually the WTF started using different sets of patterns, but our school stuck with the “old way”. At the same time, the ITF changed the standard way of performing the forms, such as introducing the “sine-wave” motion.

Our school remains true to the teachings of 9th degree black belt Grandmaster C. H. Lee, the founder of Lee’s Black Belt Academy. Our school’s master, Nadeen Ouellette, was one of his students.
